Better Days Blog: Clocking Off

 I hope you are well – it is Friday.

I have said a couple of times already, but I’ve been a little quieter than normal the last two weeks.  I started a new job and have also been under taking the Mental Health first aider course, which I am happy to say I completed this afternoon.

I will talk in a future blog about all that I learned on this excellent course, but now is not the time.

Today I’m just going to touch on one thing that was mentioned through out the course – the importance of self care.  This is something I talk about a lot in my blogs and in the courses I deliver, looking after ourselves is critical to our wellbeing.  Having a period of time each day, to do something that makes us feel good is one of the best things we can do for our wellbeing.  This message is re-enforced through out the training.

With that in mind, I am having a long weekend. 😊

I’m going to relax – gaming, tv and films are on the agenda.  I have a surprise (home made) afternoon tea planned for tomorrow with my Mum (she is my support bubble).  I’ll also be doing some exercise – I’ve a scenic run planned for Monday and I’ll be returning to internal training more fully following a recent injury.  These are all things that bring me joy.  By looking after myself, I’ll also put myself in the best possible place to care for others too.

I’ll be clocking off from work for three days, and focusing on me.  One thing that also brings me joy is writing, so I’ll likely be posting some content onto my website over the weekend too.
