Article: The Pursuit of Happiness and Health

on

Sharing message of positivity I received via email this morning from Brad Thompson (a coach who mentors Personal Trainers who are either newly qualified or in training). I receive his Monday newsletter each week and its always an insightful read. (You can sign up to the free newsletter here if you are interested).

I wanted to share this message from the newsletter as I found it useful:

If you’re anything like me, you’ve like thought “when I achieve _____ I’ll be happy”

The sorry thing about happiness is that….its so subjective that one’s PERSPECTIVE ensures the goal posts are always moving.

It’s a cliche, but some of the happiest children in the world aren’t in possession of material things.

Instead, they have community, they have loving parents, they basically don’t worry about “nice to haves”.

In today’s society, consumerism means that we place (in my opinion) far too much emphasis on what we don’t have to be happy/make us feel something positive.

So, as Christmas approaches, here’s your friendly reminder that, this time of year isn’t about presents…..it’s about PRESENCE (see what I did there)

Enjoy yourself, but if you’re struggling, reach out to someone you trust. Talking doesn’t solve everything, but it helps formulate your emotions.

Stay healthy,

Brad
