What is RPE?

This is the rate of perceived exertion (RPE). This is a scale used in the fitness industry to measure the level of intensity of an activity being undertaken by an individual.

This is measured on a scale of 1 (being lowest, resting) to 10 (being the highest – about to pass out)

Find out how your fitness instructor is measuring your workout.

This scoring system useful to track how you feel you are doing.

It is a scoring system unique to the individual.  It factors in that every human body is unique. How an activity impacts an individual will be completely different to another.

Fitness Instructors therefore use RPE on an individual to make an assessment and assign a score

Over time the FI working with the same individual can use this to track progress.
